River Almond

The River Almond is a roughly 47-kilometre Scottish river rising near Shotts in North Lanarkshire and emptying into the Firth of Forth at Cramond, on Edinburgh's western edge. The wooded river gorge near its mouth offers a quiet riverside walk that contrasts sharply with the open tidal shore of the Firth just metres away. The area around Cramond is locally known for birdwatching and fishing, and remains largely off the main tourist circuit despite its proximity to Edinburgh.
