Armeleuteberg

The Armeleuteberg — formerly known as the Petersberg — is a 477.8-metre forested hill in the Harz mountains near Wernigerode, Saxony-Anhalt. Its current name, roughly translating to 'poor people's hill', likely reflects the historically thin, unproductive soils on its slopes. The summit area offers open views across the Harz foothills and toward the distinctive skyline of Wernigerode with its hilltop castle. Well-marked hiking trails connect the hill to the town center in about an hour, making it a quiet half-day alternative to the more frequented Harz destinations.
