Achtermannshöhe

Achtermannshöhe rises to around 925 metres above sea level, making it the third-highest peak in Lower Saxony, sitting within the Harz National Park near the hamlet of Königskrug. The summit plateau is characterised by upland bog, spruce forest, and open ridgeline — a habitat left largely to natural processes since the national park's establishment in 1994. Clear days offer broad views westward across the Harz range toward the Brocken. Well-marked trails connect the summit to the nearby ski town of Braunlage, making it a quieter alternative to the more heavily visited Brocken massif.
