Altenburg

The Altenburg is a 432.7-metre hill in the Hessenwald natural area, part of the Ostwaldecker Randsenken ridge landscape in the Schwalm-Eder district of northern Hesse. Its forested summit stretches across the municipal territories of Bad Zwesten, Borken, and Neuenthal. The hill offers well-marked hiking trails through broadleaf woodland and open views across the gently rolling North Hessian countryside from the upper slopes — a straightforward day-trip destination for walkers from the surrounding region.
