Australian government art rental programme founded in 1980, with a collection of over 11,000 contemporary works.
Artbank is an Australian government art rental programme founded in 1980 to support contemporary Australian artists. By purchasing and renting artworks to public institutions, businesses and private clients, it has built one of the largest collections of Australian contemporary art – now over 11,000 works by more than 3,500 artists. The model was inspired by Canada's Art Bank. The Sydney location is one of several across Australia and an unusual stop for anyone interested in experiencing contemporary Australian art outside a traditional museum setting.
