Avron

Avron is an underground station on Line 2 of the Paris Métro, situated in the 20th arrondissement and listed as a protected historic monument. Its name traces back to the Rue d'Avron, itself named after the Battle of Avron in the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71, when Prussian forces overran a French artillery position on the Plateau d'Avron east of the city. The station is notable for its cast-iron entrance canopy in the Art Nouveau style of Hector Guimard, the architect whose sinuous organic forms became the defining visual identity of the early Parisian Métro. In everyday use it functions as a purely local transit stop with no tourist amenities and no wheelchair access.
