Minden Museum Railway

Also known as: Minden Museum Railway

The Museums-Eisenbahn Minden (MEM) is a volunteer-run railway association that has been operating restored rolling stock — including vintage railcars and steam locomotives — on the former tracks of the Mindener Kreisbahnen and the Osnabrück district transport network since 1977. The railway runs a scheduled summer timetable and adds special excursions on heritage occasions and occasionally on third-party lines. Unlike a static museum, the MEM puts its vehicles into genuine revenue-style service, letting visitors ride rather than just observe. The combination of working early-20th-century technology and the rural Westphalian scenery makes it a natural draw for rail enthusiasts and families alike.
