Bielefeld Main Station

Bielefeld's main station, opened in 1847 and designed in the Jugendstil style, holds listed-monument status under North Rhine-Westphalia's heritage protection and serves as the primary rail hub for the Ostwestfalen-Lippe region. Its position at the Bielefeld Pass — a natural corridor through the Teutoburg Forest — made it a strategically important junction from the early days of industrialisation. The station also carries a peculiar cultural footnote: it sits at the centre of Germany's most persistent internet conspiracy theory, the so-called Bielefeld-Verschwörung, which claims the city doesn't exist — a joke the city has since embraced for its own marketing. The station is fully wheelchair-accessible.
