Chișinău railway station

Chișinău railway station is the Moldovan capital's main intercity hub, with roots going back to 1871 when the first rail connection reached the city. The current station building is a product of the Soviet era, its neoclassical facade featuring a broad colonnade and rigid symmetry typical of mid-20th century monumental architecture in the region. International trains to Bucharest and Ukrainian cities depart from here, making it one of Moldova's few direct rail gateways to neighboring countries. Inside, the cavernous waiting halls retain their Soviet-era proportions, busy with a mix of long-distance travelers, market vendors, and daily commuters.
