Fujisan Station

Fujisan Station sits in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, and serves as the principal rail gateway for climbers and pilgrims heading to the summit of Mount Fuji. The wooden station building dates to 1929, a late example of Taishō-era railway architecture that has survived largely intact. Operated by the Fuji Kyūkō line, it connects to the national rail network at Ōtsuki. On clear days the snow-capped cone of Fuji is visible directly from the platform — an unobstructed view that gives the station an atmosphere few rail stops can match. During the official climbing season in summer, the station becomes a staging point for thousands of hikers and Shinto pilgrims making the ascent.
