Hagen-Vorhalle station

Hagen-Vorhalle station serves a dual role: a small regional passenger stop on the Ruhr Valley Railway and the Elberfeld–Dortmund line, and one of Germany's nine major marshalling yards. First opened on 9 March 1849 under the name Bahnhof Herdecke, it is among the earliest stations in the western German rail network. Rebuilt in its current form in 1910, it was later designated a key node in the Railion Deutschland AG's 200X freight production programme from 2006. The site offers little for general visitors but holds real interest for railway enthusiasts as a large, fully operational freight sorting facility.
