Berlin-Schöneweide

Berlin-Schöneweide station sits on the Görlitzer Bahn in the Niederschöneweide district and once served as one of East Berlin's three main long-distance stations during the GDR era — a role it lost after reunification reshaped the city's rail network. The listed station building preserves the industrial character of what was once one of Berlin's densest working-class factory districts, with major electrical and cable manufacturers concentrated here around 1900. The adjacent marshalling yard is now decommissioned, its rusting infrastructure a quiet remnant of GDR freight operations. Today the station functions primarily as a transfer point between S-Bahn lines and regional services heading southeast toward Görlitz.
