Kōriyama Station

Kōriyama Station is the main rail hub of Kōriyama city in Fukushima Prefecture, first opened in 1887 during the Meiji era. It sits at the intersection of the Tōhoku Main Line with the Tōhoku and Yamagata Shinkansen, as well as the Ban'etsu West and East Lines running toward Niigata and Aizu-Wakamatsu respectively — making it one of the busiest interchange points in northeastern Japan. The Suigun Line, which branches off the Tōhoku Main Line a few kilometers to the south, also terminates here. For most visitors it functions as a transit stop rather than a destination in its own right.
