Mombasa Terminus

Mombasa Terminus is the coastal endpoint of Kenya's modern standard gauge railway, linking Mombasa to Nairobi via the Madaraka Express passenger service. The line opened in 2017 as part of a large-scale Chinese-funded infrastructure project, cutting the travel time between the two cities to around 4.5 hours — a journey that previously took the better part of a day on the old colonial-era metre-gauge railway. The station itself is a contemporary functional building with no historic fabric, serving primarily as the main gateway for travellers moving between Kenya's coast and its capital.
