Trapani railway station

Trapani railway station is the sole station of Sicily's westernmost city, functioning as a terminus for two single-track lines that both originate in Palermo. The older route via Castelvetrano opened in 1881; the shorter line via Segesta was completed only in 1937, cutting some 60 kilometres off the journey between the two cities. The neoclassical station building and its forecourt form a central civic anchor in Trapani's downtown, with the old town, harbour, and ferry terminals to the Egadi Islands all within easy walking distance.
