Täsch railway station

Täsch station is the last point accessible by private car before the vehicle-free resort of Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais. Visitors leave their cars in the large parking facilities here and board the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn narrow-gauge railway, which covers the final stretch to Zermatt in around twelve minutes. The rail line traces its origins to the Visp-Zermatt-Bahn, opened in 1891, and today forms part of the Glacier Express route running through to St. Moritz. The station itself is a functional interchange with no architectural or cultural distinction — its significance is entirely as the gateway to the Zermatt and Matterhorn area.
