Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia

The Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Peñafrancia is a Roman Catholic pilgrimage church in Naga, capital of Camarines Sur province in the Philippines, situated near the Bicol River. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Peñafrancia, patron of the Bicol region, and ranks among the most visited Marian shrines in the Philippines. Every September the Peñafrancia Festival draws hundreds of thousands of devotees for a riverside fluvial procession in which the image of the Virgin is carried by boat along the Bicol River — a tradition stretching back centuries. The current structure, completed in 1982, is a modern basilica without ornate historic detailing, functioning above all as the spiritual heart of the Bikolano Catholic community.
