Beethoven House

Cologne

The Beethoven-Haus in Bonn — Beethoven's actual birthplace — is simultaneously a memorial site, museum, and research institute dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven. Founded in 1889 by the Verein Beethoven-Haus, it houses the world's most significant collection of Beethoven's original manuscripts, personal instruments, and biographical documents. Permanent exhibitions trace the composer's life and creative output, while a specialist archive draws musicologists from across the globe. Open Wednesday through Monday, 10am to 6pm; admission is charged, with limited wheelchair access.
