Bergsøysundbrua

Bergsøysundbrua is a floating bridge opened in 1992 on European route E39, south of Kristiansund in Norway's Møre og Romsdal county. Its steel structure spans 845 metres by resting on anchored pontoons — an engineering approach favoured in Norwegian fjords where extreme water depths make conventional piers impractical. The bridge is designed to accommodate tidal fluctuations of up to two metres. For travellers on the E39, the crossing offers open views across the surrounding fjord landscape.
