Bernstein

The Bernstein is a 693.5-metre summit in the Northern Black Forest, straddling the municipal boundaries of Gaggenau-Rotenfels and Bad Herrenalb-Bernbach. What sets it apart is its natural crown: a six-metre-tall Buntsandstein (red sandstone) rock formation tops the hill and supports a viewing platform of over 25 square metres, with open sightlines across the Murg valley and the surrounding ridge. Several marked hiking trails approach the summit from Bad Herrenalb and Rotenfels, making it a manageable half-day destination suitable for families.
