Angels Landing

Angels Landing is a 1,765-meter sandstone mesa in Zion National Park, Utah, jutting out over a tight meander of the North Fork Virgin River. The summit trail was completed in 1926 and has since become the park's most-climbed peak, with its upper ridge section — a narrow spine equipped with fixed chains — demanding a head for heights. The reward at the top is an unobstructed 360-degree view over the Zion Canyon floor: sheer red-rock walls dropping hundreds of meters on either side, and the silver thread of the river below. Since 2022, a permit lottery controls access to the final ascent, limiting daily foot traffic on the exposed ridgeline.
