Beycesultan Hill

Beycesultan is a Bronze Age settlement mound (höyük) in western Anatolia, roughly 5 km southwest of the modern town of Çivril in Denizli province. The site sits on a bend of an ancient tributary of the Büyük Menderes (Maeander) river, and was continuously occupied across several millennia of the Bronze Age. British excavations led by James Mellaart in the 1950s and 1960s uncovered stratigraphic layers reaching back to the third millennium BCE, including the remains of a possible palace complex that scholars have compared in layout to Minoan structures. Today the site appears as an unassuming earthen hill amid agricultural land, visited primarily by researchers and dedicated archaeology enthusiasts rather than general tourists.
