Bilstein

The Bilstein, at 641.2 metres above sea level, is the second-highest summit in the Kaufunger Wald after the Hirschberg, situated near Großalmerode in Hesse's Werra-Meißner district. The summit sits within a largely uninterrupted beech-forest landscape straddling the Hesse–Lower Saxony border. Walking trails lead to the top, where clear days offer open views across the forested ridgeline and surrounding hill country. It makes a quiet half-day hiking destination for visitors based in Großalmerode or Kassel.
