Blue Flyer

Blue Flyer — known until 2010 as Zipper Dipper — is a wooden roller coaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and one of the oldest continuously operating wooden coasters in Britain. Opened in 1934 and now Grade-II listed, it stands as a rare surviving example of interwar fairground engineering. Gentler than modern steel coasters, it is aimed squarely at families with younger children, offering a low-thrill introduction to coaster riding. The rattling timber structure and unadorned design are a direct echo of the golden age of the British seaside funfair.
