Big One

The Big One is a steel hypercoaster at Blackpool Pleasure Beach, one of the most recognisable ride silhouettes on the British seaside skyline. Built by Arrow Dynamics and opened on 28 May 1994, it stood as the world's tallest and fastest roller coaster at 72 metres upon its debut — a record it held only briefly, but one that drew international attention to the park. Trains hit speeds of over 140 km/h on the first drop. At the summit, riders get a brief, vertiginous view across the Lancashire coast and the Irish Sea before the structure plunges them back down.
