Breitenberg

The Breitenberg is a 545-metre sub-peak of the Kalmit massif in the Haardt range, the eastern escarpment of the Pfälzerwald near Sankt Martin in the Südliche Weinstraße district. Sitting just below the Kalmit — the highest point in the Palatinate at 673 metres — it is surrounded by dense beech forest and reached via well-marked trails from Edenkoben and Sankt Martin. From the summit area, views stretch across the Upper Rhine Plain toward the Black Forest and, on clear days, as far as the Vosges. Its quieter character compared to the busier Kalmit makes it a rewarding destination for a half-day hike.
