Asselstein

The Asselstein is a freestanding sandstone rock tower in the Pfälzerwald nature reserve near Annweiler am Trifels, rising just above 400 metres. It is one of the Palatinate Forest's most popular climbing destinations, with routes on its compact sandstone faces ranging from beginner-friendly to technically demanding. Reaching the top rewards climbers with sweeping views across the forested hills, with the medieval Trifels Castle visible in the near distance.
