Breitenstein

The Breitenstein is a 1,622-metre twin-peaked summit in the eastern Bavarian Prealps, close to Miesbach in Upper Bavaria. Its two summits — the higher main peak to the east and the secondary Bockstein to the west — form a ridge characteristic of the Prealps terrain. Several marked trails lead to the top, making it a manageable day hike that rewards with a broad Alpine panorama stretching from the Wendelstein to the Zugspitze massif on a clear day. Compared to busier Prealps destinations in the area, the Breitenstein remains relatively uncrowded.
