Brend

The Brend, at 1,149.3 metres, is the highest point within the municipal boundaries of Furtwangen im Schwarzwald and serves as the town's local summit in the central Black Forest. Typical of the region, its slopes are covered in dense spruce and fir forest that opens onto broader ridgelines near the top, offering panoramic views across the Kinzig and Brigach valleys. Several hiking trails connect directly from Furtwangen's town centre to the summit, making it a straightforward half-day outing; the routes also attract mountain bikers in summer.
