Sforza Castle
Milan
Castello del Catajo is a sprawling Renaissance castle complex set among the Euganean Hills south of Padua, near the spa town of Battaglia Terme — not in Venice as the listing suggests. Built in the 16th century by the Obizzi family, it ranks among the most ambitious aristocratic residences in the Veneto region. The castle is particularly noted for its sweeping interior fresco cycle depicting the history of the Obizzi dynasty, covering entire walls across multiple ceremonial halls. Designated an Italian national monument, the castle is open to visitors; its extensive grounds and parkland framed by the wooded Euganean Hills give the site a quieter, off-the-beaten-path character rarely found this close to the Venetian tourist circuit.
