Chiesa di San Bartolomeo
Venice
Renaissance church in the Rialto district, dedicated to Saint John the Almsgiver, with paintings by Titian.
San Giovanni Elemosinario, also known in Venetian as San Zuane di Rialto, is a Catholic church in the sestiere of San Polo, near the Fabbriche Vecchie in the Rialto district. The church dates back at least to the 11th century, but was rebuilt in its present Renaissance form after a fire in the early 16th century. It is dedicated to Saint John the Almsgiver, a Patriarch of Alexandria. The church contains important works by Titian and Pordenone, and offers a quiet retreat amid the bustle of the Rialto market.
