Deutsches Historisches Museum

The Deutsches Historisches Museum is Germany's national museum for its own history, housed in two buildings on Unter den Linden: the Baroque Zeughaus of 1706, the oldest structure on the boulevard, and the glass extension by Ieoh Ming Pei opened in 2003 with its dramatic spiral staircase. The Zeughaus is currently closed for a full refurbishment, while the Pei building shows changing exhibitions and a newly conceived history programme. The collection holds around one million objects spanning the migration period to the present. Admission around ten euro for the Pei wing, which is carrying the museum until the Zeughaus returns.
