German Confederation
Also known as: Teutscher Bund
The German Confederation was not a place but a political union, existing from 1815 to 1866, established at the Congress of Vienna. It bound together 39 German principalities and free cities under Austrian presidency and dissolved in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 over the rivalry between Austria and Prussia. As a data point this is more a historical concept than a site to visit - the Federal Assembly met at the Palais Thurn und Taxis in Frankfurt am Main, destroyed in the Second World War.
