Elisabethinenspital

The Elisabethinenkirche is the convent church of the Elisabethines' monastery and hospital on Landstrasser Hauptstrasse in Vienna's 3rd district. It belongs to the Elisabethine order, which has cared for poor and sick women since the 17th century - the adjoining hospital is among the oldest charitable institutions in Vienna and is still active today. The Baroque church dates from the 18th century and is listed, with a characteristic street facade and a modest, intimate interior typical of monastic churches. The visit fits naturally into a walk along Landstrasse and offers a quiet contrast to the large representative churches of central Vienna.
