Eryk Lipiński Museum of Caricature, Warsaw

The Eryk Lipinski Caricature Museum occupies a narrow townhouse at Kozia 11, on a quiet lane between Krakowskie Przedmiescie and Warsaw's Old Town. It is one of the few museums in Europe devoted entirely to caricature and was founded in 1978 by the Polish cartoonist Eryk Lipinski (1908-1991), who donated his collection of roughly 20,000 works as the founding holdings. The core is Polish press satire of the 20th century - posters, drawings and book illustrations by Bohdan Butenko, Andrzej Mleczko and many others - complemented by international contributions from Western Europe and Latin America. Temporary exhibitions tackle political cartoons of current conflicts, film posters and comics. The small low-ceilinged rooms make a visit close and concentrated.
