Polish History Museum

The Museum of the History of Poland, Muzeum Historii Polski, is a national museum founded in 2006 in Warsaw to tell the thousand-year story of the Polish state. Its exhibition building, on the grounds of the Warsaw Citadel, a 19th-century tsarist fortress, is one of the largest new museum complexes in Central Europe. The permanent display opened in 2024 with halls on the Piasts and Jagiellons, the noble Commonwealth, the partitions, the regained independence of 1918 and the Solidarity movement. The travertine-clad building takes its proportions from classical Polish manor courtyards. A visit pairs naturally with a walk across the neighbouring Citadel and the X Pavilion museum.
