Football stadium in Valparaíso, Chile – home of Santiago Wanderers, named after Chilean football legend Elías Figueroa, overlooking the bay.
Estadio Elías Figueroa Brander – commonly known as Estadio Playa Ancha after the Valparaíso neighbourhood – is the home ground of Club de Deportes Santiago Wanderers. The multi-purpose stadium holds around 20,000 spectators, was built in 1931 and renovated in 2014. It is named after Elías Figueroa, the Chilean footballer of the 1970s regarded internationally as one of the greatest defenders of his era. Valparaíso is one of South America's most iconic port cities, and the stadium sits high in the hillside district with views over the bay from the right vantage point.
