Irving K. Barber Learning Centre

The Irving K. Barber Learning Centre is a four-storey library and academic hub at the University of British Columbia's Vancouver campus, built around the carefully refurbished shell of the original 1925 UBC Main Library. The heritage core features a distinctive domed reading room that anchors a much larger modern addition housing collaborative study spaces, digital research collections, and event facilities. The centre is named for Irving K. Barber, a UBC alumnus and philanthropist whose foundation contributed significantly to the building's transformation. Open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and fully wheelchair accessible, it functions as much as a public campus gathering point as a research facility.
