Jakiškių piliakalnis

Jakiškių piliakalnis is a prehistoric hillfort near Dūkštas in northeastern Lithuania — an earthen rampart typical of the Baltic landscape, used during the Iron Age or earlier as a fortified settlement or ritual site. Lithuania counts over 800 such piliakalniai; many are regarded as sacred sites of pre-Christian Baltic religion, where fires burned as offerings to local deities. The site is registered as an archaeological monument and documented in the national piliakalniai.lt database. Visitors approach via forest paths and are rewarded at the summit with open views across the lake-dotted Aukštaitija uplands.
