The monument to Czech linguist Josef Jungmann stands on Jungmann Square in the heart of Prague, not far from Wenceslas Square. Erected in 1878, the bronze statue honours one of the most important figures of the 19th-century Czech National Revival. Jungmann compiled the first major Czech-German dictionary and contributed decisively to standardising the modern Czech language.
