Kobylisy Shooting Range

Former Nazi execution ground in Prague – now a national memorial to the victims of the German occupation (1939–1945).

The Kobylisy Shooting Range in the Prague district of Kobylisy was originally a military training ground, but was repurposed during the German occupation of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia (1939–1945) as an execution site. Hundreds of Czech resistance fighters, hostages and civilians were shot here. Since 1945, the grounds have been a place of remembrance; in 1975 it became an official anti-fascist resistance memorial and in 1978 a national cultural monument. Today a quiet memorial recalls the victims of the Nazi occupation – a solemn but important site of memory in the Czech capital.
