The Royal Garden at Prague Castle was laid out in 1534 by Emperor Ferdinand I in the Italian Renaissance style — the first of its kind north of the Alps. Originally serving the Habsburg court as a prestige garden and home to exotic plants, including Central Europe's first tulips. At its heart stands the Royal Summer Palace, also called the Queen Anne's Summer Palace, an elegant Renaissance building in white sandstone with an arcaded loggia. Today, manicured lawns, historic fountains, and views over Prague Castle and the city skyline invite leisurely walks.
