Bridge of Legions
Prague
29-metre neo-Gothic sandstone monument on Prague's Vltava riverside, 1850
Kranner's Fountain stands on the Smetana Embankment in Prague's Old Town, south of Charles Bridge on the right bank of the Vltava. The 29-metre sandstone monument in the form of a Gothic spire was erected in 1850 in honour of Emperor Francis I of Austria and bears allegorical sculptures by Josef Max. A listed Czech cultural monument, it is an often overlooked but impressive relic of the Habsburg era in the heart of Prague's old town.
