Milano Porta Garibaldi railway station
Milan
The Yokohama Marine Tower is a 106-meter observation tower and former lighthouse standing in Yamashita-cho directly above Yokohama harbor. Opened on January 15, 1961, for the 100th anniversary of the port's opening, it was long considered the world's tallest lighthouse. The decagonal structure was originally striped red and white and served as a navigational aid for ships until 2008. After a 2022 restoration for its 60th anniversary, the tower now sports a dark charcoal exterior with modernized lighting. From the observation deck 100 meters up, visitors gaze over Yamashita Park, the Hikawa Maru, and on clear days as far as Mount Fuji. The lower levels host restaurants and souvenir shops tied to the port's history.
