Museum of Moscow railway

The Moscow Railway Museum sits in a park beside the Paveletsky terminal in southern Moscow and tells the story of the southern Russian and Moscow railways. Its centrepiece is locomotive U-127 together with the funeral carriage that carried Lenin's body from Gorki to Moscow in 1924, both displayed under a dedicated glass pavilion. Founded in 1948, the museum reopened in January 2012 after a substantial overhaul, and the outdoor yard holds further steam locomotives, Soviet-era railcars and freight rolling stock. Tickets are cheap and the site is compact, making it a worthwhile half-day stop for railway enthusiasts and families; Paveletsky station itself runs the Aeroexpress trains out to Domodedovo airport.
