Nepomukbrücke

The Nepomukbrücke is a sandstone arch bridge built in 1695 that spans the Schwäbische Rezat in Pleinfeld, a market town in Middle Franconia, and is listed as a protected historic monument in the Bavarian register. It takes its name from Saint John of Nepomuk, the Bohemian martyr and patron saint of bridges, whose figurines were a characteristic adornment of Baroque bridge-building across Central Europe. Still carrying car traffic today, it is the only vehicular river crossing within Pleinfeld itself — a working piece of 17th-century infrastructure still in daily use.
