Nieuwe Kerk, Katwijk aan Zee

The Nieuwe Kerk in Katwijk aan Zee, a former fishing village on the Dutch North Sea coast, is a Protestant church built in 1800 and protected as a Rijksmonument. It served as a second parish church once the old Andreaskerk had become too small for the growing fishing community. Inside is a plain Neoclassical preaching hall with a surrounding gallery and a 19th-century organ. The Protestant Church in the Netherlands still uses the building for regular services. Visitors arriving from the beach via the boulevard promenade find here a quiet contrast to the busy North Sea seafront.
