Also known as: Orhan Kemal Museum
The Orhan Kemal Literature Museum in Istanbul is dedicated to one of Turkey's most important working-class novelists, Orhan Kemal (1914–1970), whose fiction drew on the lives of laborers, migrants, and prisoners. Kemal's biographical connection to those themes was direct: he served a five-year prison sentence in the 1940s, during which he befriended the celebrated poet Nâzım Hikmet. The museum holds manuscripts, personal artifacts, and an archive documenting his literary output. Open Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00–18:00, it is a focused stop for anyone interested in 20th-century Turkish prose literature and the social realist tradition.
