Palais Obizzi

Palais Obizzi stands on Schulhof in Vienna's inner city and is notable above all for its unusually narrow, single-axis facade onto Steindlgasse. The core dates to the 17th century and is named after the Italian noble Obizzi family who settled in Vienna during the period of the Turkish wars. While the interior fittings have been lost over the centuries, the facade survives in fully baroque form and is a rare study object for extremely narrow Viennese urban palaces. Today the palace houses the Vienna Clock Museum, with about 700 timepieces on display from the 15th to the 20th century, including tower clock mechanisms, ornate longcase clocks and the famous cabinet of picture clocks.
