André Citroën Park

Stretching over 14 hectares along the Seine in the 15th arrondissement, Parc Andre Citroen sits on the site of the former Citroen car factory, demolished in 1982. Opened in 1992 by landscape architects Gilles Clement and Alain Provost with architects Patrick Berger, Jean-Francois Jodry and Jean-Paul Viguier, it is a landmark of postmodern French garden design. Rather than a classic city park it offers six colour-themed Serial Gardens, a Dry Garden, a Garden in Movement and two large greenhouses above a fountain plaza where Parisian children run through the jets in summer. Its signature feature is the Ballon de Paris Generali, a tethered helium balloon that rises 150 metres above the park with passengers and live air-quality sensors on board. On clear days you see all the way to the Eiffel Tower and La Defense.
